The urgency of this need is greater than everbefore. Automobile fuels form a major component of the fossil fuel consumed world over. Hence, major research has been focused on substituting the automobile fossil fuels with greener alternatives, like, bio-diesel, solar powered cells, hydrogen cells, etc.

Ideas given below have the potential to achieve this purpose:

1. Use of solar cells to capture the solar energy needs a wide capture area (of land) to be a viable alternative for fossil fuel. Such large landscapes are scarce in and around the cities where the consumption of automobile fuels is maximum. Hence, the idea is to capture the solar energy in areas such as deserts and dry-baren land-scapes, then store them in consumable form of battery cells and make them available in the cities where they can be consumed by the electric hybrid vehicles. This would utilize quite a bit of the non-productive land for greener purposes.

Which language to teach in?

There is always this dilemma when it comes to educating our children: Should the medium of instruction (and syllabus/contents, etc) be the mother tongue or should it be English (or any other far reaching language of the global village). The conservative lot always back the mother tongue, and the so-called futurists stand by a global language such as English. Both the groups have enough arguments to substantiate their stance.

So whatz the solution? Here is an idea that will surely work!!!

First, accept both sides of the argument. Mother tongue is the corner stone for continuing the legacy/heritage of a region/state/nation. And, English is also essential so that we are able to reach out to (almost) the whole world in an easier and better way. Now the idea is to strike a balance.

So, let us say the primary education syllabus consists of the following subjects/studies (of course after excluding Mother-tongue and English):
Science & Technology, Mathematics, History, Moral science and Geography.
Out of these, History and Moral sciences should necessarily be taught in the mother-tongue because both these would essentially comprise of the legacy/heritage of the region and the teachings that have come from the fore-fathers/mothers, and hence are best understood when taught in the mother tongue.
The remaining subjects viz Science & Technology, Mathematics and Geography should be taught in English, justifying the fact that most of the modern day scientific/technological and mathematical developments (including subjects related to geographical studies) are well documented in English (even though many of such documentations are translations of artifacts in numerous regional languages), and hence making all these abundance of know-how easily available/accessible (over the internet or outside it!).

If this or a similar approach is adapted in most if not all the regions of the world, it would lead to a better place to live in. The world would become a global village in the true spirit by co-existing with (and nourishing) the diversity of all the human cultures, which is also a must for human/universal progress.

Any takers?

Order dish specific ingredients ! Some ideas appear to be good, some bad, some crazy, and some others out of the world, at that point in time. For some reason or rather for no reason at all, those ideas are lost without any further thought or action. In most cases, the person who comes up with the idea is indisposed to do any further actions related to the idea, may be because s/he: has no time to spare for it, has not enough resources, is just not interested in pursuing it, work/family pressures, peer pressures, etc. This results in the idea being lost more or less forever unless the same has occurred to someone else who has the spare-time, abundance of resources, interest, willingness to take the risk and all the other things required for converting that idea into something substantial, which is a remote possibility.

This blog aims to capture and publish all those ideas so that people who are capable of building over an idea can explore the possibilities and take it further and in all good faith benefit a vast group of people.

Anyone and everyone can post their ideas (no matter however crazy or silly they are) to this blog by mailing to small.big.ideas@gmail.com. We will ensure that the ideas are published under appropriate classifications.

Remember, today's craziest idea may be tomorrow's absolute reality. Very few had thought about the idea of a blog a few years ago; today it is more than a reality. So, do not wish away an idea, when you can post the same to this blog by mailing your idea(s) to small.big.ideas@gmail.com.

Note: Do mention your full name and your contact e-mail id (if different from the mailing id) in your posts.
